OUR STORY
Designing Your Perfect Kitchen
We have to go back over 40 years to find the acorn form which James Adcock Furniture was born. James father David started making furniture in the 1970s. James grew up in this family business and made his first piece of furniture whilst he was still in primary school – a bedside cupboard which is still in the family home. The tradition of furniture making by hand, as started by David, has continued to this day. James learnt design in the family business too, taught by his parents. David retired in 2010 and James continued the family business. We grew to a large workshop showroom in Stratford-upon-Avon and a beautiful showroom in Broadway, Worcestershire. We now design from our home office and workshop and we continue to provide high-quality kitchens and furniture.
We look forward to working with you.
OUR PROCESS
We design with your tastes and your requirements in mind. We listen, think and design. We aim to surprise you with new ideas. The art is to take the look you desire and also make sure the furniture also meets your practical needs. We do your initial designs with you at your home. This makes sure that we tailor the designs to suite not just yourselves but your home too.
We like to hand draw your designs as this gives soul to the drawings. We provide CAD drawings and plans for more detailed work. We will also provide you with a detailed quote. We can provide a rough guide price to your furniture. For this we require some measurements and an idea of your project. Please email us at design@jamesadcock.com with your inquiry.
Following your approximate quotation then we offer the following design services:
Kitchen survey and design.
Includes CAD designs and a full quote.
Fitted Furniture Survey and Design
Includes hand drawn designs and a full quote.
*Distance designs. We are based in Warwickshire. The above prices include a design process for homes in Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire. If you live outside these areas, then please enquire for a revised charge to take into account mileage …….or we can design from photographs and an accurate home survey (for which the client takes responsibility).
MEET THE TEAM
James
James’s ethos is to get the most out of the character of the timber. He believes that his pieces should be handmade and hand finished to make the most of the natural material. He very much enjoys meeting people and understanding their needs, before beginning the creativity. He feels immense satisfaction as our work is fitted with pride, and results in a “job well done”. Coming from a generation of designers and creators, James learnt to design and build furniture from a young age, – he made his first piece whilst he was at primary school – a bedside cupboard, which is still in the family home! After studying Business and Economics at Exeter University, then having gained business acumen working in London, James returned home to the Cotswolds, in his trusty MG Roadster, to begin the next chapter of the family business. He met his wife Lisa, and together they restored a character Tudor cottage, in a small village. With wonky walls and uneven floors and ceilings, James was able to scribe his handmade furniture to fit seamlessly, and provide organised practical storage solutions to blend into their home. Now a father himself, he takes pride in watching his own children flourish in their aspirations and maybe one day, they might follow the family footsteps of design and creation. Away from work, James enjoys the great outdoors and exploring the countryside, usually on his mountain bike! He also follows rugby, having played for a local side in his youth, and now coaches the next generation.
Olivia
Olivia loves to reflect our clients’ personality and lifestyle into the designs she creates. In turn, she loves the diversity that no two projects are the same. One day she can be designing a contemporary kitchen for a modern build, then the next a dressing room and fitted bedroom furniture for a chocolate box cottage, here in the Cotswolds. Olivia began working with James in 2012, as a designer after graduating with a degree in interior design. Her design and creativity foundations is to enhance homes with beautiful bespoke pieces of furniture and exceed clients’ expectations. Whether you choose to be brave and bold in the colour scheme or stick to the natural finish of the wood she can reflect this in the style. In her spare time, Olivia’s hobbies include paddle boarding, kayaking, and rambling. She loves adventure and visiting the mountains or the coast to discover new places. Using the surroundings discovered as inspiration, as if that wasn’t enough – Olivia designs, prints and makes accessories for the home and kitchen.
